ESG management is at the very heart of the company’s forward-looking strategy for the energy transition. At Angus, we take our responsibilities to the environment, our stakeholders and to good governance very seriously.
We know the only way to generate sustainable and profitable returns for our investors is to operate at the highest levels of health & safety performance, environmental protection and ethical business practices.
Climate Change
Angus Energy is actively working to align its operations with climate change goals and the transition to a net-zero future. This includes investing in cleaner technologies, reducing carbon emissions, and exploring renewable energy projects. The company is also focusing on improving efficiency in its existing oil and gas operations while engaging in sustainable practices to contribute positively to environmental stewardship and support the broader shift towards a low-carbon economy. At it’s Saltfleetby field, Angus is evaluating a range of gas storage options for the future, which includes the potential to create one of the largest onshore CO2 disposal sites in the country.
Environmental Regulation
Angus Energy operates under the oversight of several regulatory bodies, including the Mineral Planning Authority, North Sea Transition Authority, and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). These authorities ensure that Angus Energy adheres to rigorous standards in mineral extraction, environmental protection, and occupational health and safety. Compliance with their regulations is crucial for sustainable operations and maintaining the safety of both workers and the surrounding communities while contributing to the UK’s energy transition goals.
Angus Energy’s commitment to compliance not only fosters public trust but also ensures operational excellence in delivering reliable energy solutions. Angus Energy continually engage with regulators to ensure their practices remain aligned with evolving industry standards and environmental protections, reinforcing their dedication to responsible energy management.
North Sea Transition Authority
Angus Energy has licenses from the North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA) to engage in activities related to oil and gas production, as well as facilitating the transition to renewable energy sources.
The NSTA oversees the management of oil and gas resources in the UK continental shelf and aims to ensure that these resources are developed responsibly while supporting the UK’s broader energy transition goals.
Angus Energy’s engagement in this process includes plans for exploration and production activities, focused on balancing traditional energy extraction with sustainable practices in alignment with regulatory guidelines.

Environmental Initiatives
Angus Energy has installed permanent noise monitoring stations outside the Saltfleetby wellsite to ensure ongoing assessment of noise levels in the surrounding area. This proactive measure allows for real-time monitoring and helps to address any potential noise concerns, reinforcing the company’s commitment to environmental responsibility and community engagement. By continuously tracking noise emissions, Angus Energy aims to mitigate the impact of operations on local residents and comply with regulatory standards.
Angus Energy has implemented acoustic hoods over its compressors as part of a strategic initiative to mitigate noise pollution. This enhancement aims to reduce noise emissions significantly, thereby fostering a more environmentally friendly operation and improving the quality of life for nearby communities.
The use of acoustic hoods is a critical step in the company’s commitment to sustainability and responsible energy production.
Angus Energy can report that flare consent limits are being met due to ongoing commitment to reducing emissions consistently. Angus Energy’s proactive agenda prioritises the implementation of robust operational practices, ensuring Angus Energy maintain compliance while further minimising their environmental footprint. This continuous improvement approach underscores Angus Energy’s dedication to environmental responsibility and sustainable operations.
